Hopefully, by now you’ve read some of our blogs and have understood the importance of creating a list and setting a budget anytime you shop, but you might not be aware of some of these Supermarket Shopping Tips that will no doubt save you a few dollars on your next visit.
Tip 1 - Eat Before You Go
Think about it. Think about when you’re leaving a restaurant after a filling meal, the food and smells no longer influence you. The same concept applies to grocery shopping. By eating (preferably a healthy meal) you’ll become less likely to make impulse purchases on sugars and snacks. It’s a great way to stick to your shopping list and a diet!
Tip 2 - Go Generic
Did you know that many types of over the counter medicine brands are owned by the same parent company AND have the exact same ingredients? Once you know that you’ll never spend the extra $5 on a name brand. Although each of us has our favorite brands and customer loyalty is real, it’s crucial to try the generic version as much as possible. Most of the time you won’t even be able to tell the difference! Furthermore, your wallet will be thanking you every time you purchase more.
Tip 3 - Look at the Item Weight
Supermarkets purposely try to trick you by pricing objects that give you less at a lower cost than items that give you more, but it’s just enough that you’ll purchase the item that’s the worst bang for your buck. Packaging can be deceptive which is why you should be checking the weight of an item and comparing it to the price before making a final purchase.
